Durga Puja 2024

Bengali Association of Madison will be celebrating the most glorious festival of the year --- Durga Puja --- on Saturday and Sunday October 12-13, 2024 .  We have new Durga Protima this year and a two-day puja for the first time!   Please join us for celebrating Durga Puja.   

As a BAM tradition, attending Puja and Prasad is free for all on both days. Donations are gladly accepted.

(If you are planning to take public transit:  Bus A goes to Sun Prairie Park and Ride, from there you can take Bus S , which takes close to the school.  We are working for arranging some rides for students who needs it, please send an email to bengali.assoc.madison@gmail.com with "DP24-RideReq" in the title.)

12:00pm - 1:00pm  Pujo prep

1:00pm - 3:00pm  Pujo (Bodhon, Pran pratishtha / amantran, Chandipath, Adibas, Shashti puja, Chanting Ashtottaro Shatonaam of Durga, Pushpanjali.)   

(UPDATE: There will be puspanjali on Saturday for whoever wants.)

3:00pm - 4:30pm  Prasad & Snacks (Papdi Chaat)

5:00pm - 8:00pm  Cultural Program

8:00pm - 10:00pm  Dinner  

Warp up by 11pm

SUNDAY (October 13, 2024) 

8:00am Pujo prep work & Prep dadhi karma

10:00am - 12:00pm Main Durga Pujo (Saptami, Ashtami, Sandhi puja, Nabami, Dashami, Durgastuti chant, Pushpanjali, Bisarjan.)

10:00am - 11:00am Kid’s art competition

11:30am - 12:30pm Pushpanjali (Flower offering)

1:00pm  Prasad (Boxed)

1:00pm - 2:30pm Lunch

2:30pm - 4pm  Sindoor khela, Dhunuchi nach, Shankha Protijogita (bring your won Shankha)

3:30pm  Snacks (Ghugni, Jhalmuri) & Art competition prize distribution 

Wrap up by 6pm

Purchase Tickets

Please purchase tickets by 11:59pm CT on Oct 2, 2024 to help us plan for the event and the food.  Ticket is required for everyone for attending any part of the event for anyone above 6 years old (except for only attending puja and getting prasad).  Dinner  is included as part of the cultural program on Saturday Oct 12;  therefore, kindly purchase Saturday tickets if you are planning on watching the program. 

Ticket price will increase from Oct 3, 2024.  We might not sell tickets at the gate if we reach capacity. If you are planning to attend, please purchase ticket early.

  • Sunday-only - $30   -- (Only Vegetarian meal will be served on Sunday)

  • Two-day ticket - $50

• Kids (6-12years old) Flat rate:

• Students (HS or Univ.) Flat rate:
